While many are pleased that Thailand is now reopening specific areas without quarantine, the uncertainty and lack of clarification of regulations until the last minute has resulted in some contradictory information. Thai embassies are informing prospective foreign travelers that they will still be required to arrange quarantine accommodations prior to travel authorization.

Many people cheered when Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said apparently decisively that it was time for Thailand to begin reopening its doors and allowing people to return without the quarantine that had prevented so many prospective travelers until now. His wide statement, however, was accompanied by caution.

With just 10 days before reopening, the country may not be prepared. The plan for reopening, as well as the list of 10 countries that will be allowed to enter Thailand without quarantine including the 17 provinces that will welcome foreign visitors, have not been published and made official in the Royal Gazette.

And now, amid the uncertainty tourists making intentions to go to Thailand are being instructed by Thailand embassies worldwide to book quarantine hotel rooms.

It is unknown at this time if this restriction will be explained and removed in time before the reopening on November 1. Numerous tourists have expressed reservations about planning trips to Thailand until guidelines are clarified before the reopening date and various government entities provide contradictory statements. There are no concrete solutions that would enable travelers from all over the globe to arrange their vacations confidently in advance.
