full moon party 2022

Since the first Full Moon Party in April, the number of tourists attending the event in Koh Pha Ngan has doubled. About 20,000 tourists landed on the beaches of Haad Rin last night. Before they could continue to enjoy the evening, the tourists were inspected at 5 layers of checkpoints to make sure no illegal substances and weapons were inside the event premises.

According to the provincial governor of Koh Pha Ngan, the increasing number of travelers is a sign of tourism recovery. Governor Wichawut Jinto predicted that the island would earn around 50 million baht in tourism revenue.

Koh Pha Ngan officials maintained tight security during the event. Aside from the 5 layers of security, there are police and military presence from the boat port to Hat Rin beach.

Full Moon Party in Thailand was first held in 1983 at Paradise Bungalows on Hand Rin as a “token” to tourists.  However, this information is contested as no one remembers the night in detail.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the Full Moon Party has not been staged in its entirety until April of this year. Historically, the celebration was celebrated either before, during, or after full moon.

Most of the tourists travel to Koh Phu Ngan via ferry from Don Sak in Surat Thani, either via Koh Samui or directly to Koh Pha Ngan

Here are the remaining dates for Full Moon Party gatherings this year.

July 15, Friday

August 13, Saturday

September 10, Saturday

October 11, Tuesday

November 8, Tuesday

December 8, Thursday

The Full Moon Party pass can be purchased at the venue for THB 100 baht per head. Participants are required to provide Thailand Pass, proof of vaccination, or an antigen test if unvaccinated.
