Thai visitors and foreigners can start collecting Digital Art NFTs using the YAKS app at 20 tourist destinations in Thailand.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has introduced the ‘Amazing Thailand NFTs Season 2’ program, wherein Thai visitors and foreign expatriates can accumulate NFT (Non-Fungible Token) virtual art items at 20 tourist destinations throughout the country until 30 April and enjoy discounts and special privileges until 31 July.

Yuthasak Supasorn, the Governor of TAT, has emphasized the importance of technology and innovation in enhancing Thai tourism through the Amazing Thailand NFTs project. With digital advancements rapidly transforming the tourism industry, TAT aims to inspire digital asset holders to explore Thailand using unique digital art NFTs that represent the country’s natural beauty, diverse cuisine, and rich cultural heritage. The project aims to provide travelers with new and exciting experiences, enabling them to turn their NFT collections into real-life journeys.

The Amazing Thailand NFTs’ Season 2 venture expands upon the success of the Amazing Thailand NFTs’ venture held in 2022, during which tourists collected 17,118 NFTs from 3,999 items in 5 destinations. The program was expected to increase tourist spending by more than THB 43 million.

In the Amazing Thailand NFTs Season 2 program, 24,000 digital NFTs are spread throughout 20 tourist destinations and landmarks in Thailand’s five regions, including:

The Central region boasts several popular attractions, such as Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), Mahanakhon Building, and Asiatique. Visitors can also explore the charming Riverfront area, experience the vibrant Amphawa Floating Market in Samut Songkhram, admire the historic Hua Hin Train Station in Prachuap Khiri Khan, or marvel at the iconic River Kwai Bridge in Kanchanaburi.

Travelers heading to the east can visit the Laem Bali Hai Pier and The Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya, Chon Buri, or admire the stunning Laem Ngob Lighthouse in Trat.

In the north, popular attractions include Tha Phae Gate and Doi Inthanon in Chiang Mai, Wat Rong Khun in Chiang Rai, and the Sukhothai Historical Park in Sukhothai.

Heading northeast, visitors can explore the unique Wat Roi Phra Phutthabat Phu Manorom in Mukdahan, the Elephant’s World Project in Surin, or the majestic Sirindhorn Wararam Phu Prao Temple in Ubon Ratchathani.

In the south, travelers can enjoy the breathtaking Promthep Cape and beautiful Mai Khao Beach in Phuket, explore the charming Old Town, or marvel at the stunning Khao Tapu limestone rock formation in Phang-nga.

With 20 landmarks and tourist destinations, the NFT artworks can be seen in 22 airports around the country.

Thai visitors and foreigners can participate in the project and accumulate NFTs using the YAKS app (Android and iOS). Upon registration, they will get their first NFT artwork. Users can acquire NFTs by checking in within a 2km radius of the tourist sites.

Each Digital Art NFT is unique and comes in the shape of a Polaroid photograph of the tourist destination, made by artists from Riety Studio. The ‘Normal’ and ‘Rare’ items will be saved in the digital wallets of visitors who travel to acquire them. They can be utilized to unlock discounts and privileges for flight, lodging, food & beverage, shopping, and other travel incentives.

Furthermore, foreign expatriates can enjoy special NFT Expat benefits that entitle them to discounts or even waived entrance fees to some of Bangkok’s most iconic attractions, including Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha), and Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha).
