According to a government spokesperson, tourism income is predicted to reach 80% of its pre-pandemic level this year.  Anucha Burapachaisri announced on Monday that the Thai government had set a goal to increase tourism income to THB 2.38 trillion baht this year which is based on the projected arrival of at least 20 million.

Mr. Anucha said that a report from the online travel agency, Hopper, anticipates an international travel rise to Asia, with Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh, and Tokyo as the top 3 trending destinations.

The report was based on flight searches conducted by Americans last December.

Hopper anticipates that more Americans would go overseas travel this year, particularly to Asia. American searches for international flights to Asian destinations made for 27% of the total, up from 19% the previous year.

Travel agencies across Thailand already stepped up and increased their engagement with other nations to promote tourism.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Korea Tourism Organization declared 2023 and 2024 as the years of tourism in Thailand and South Korea. The collaboration is anticipated to have at least 3 million tourists.

Mr. Anucha also believed that the 2-year partnership would strengthen connections between Thailand and South Korea.

“The PM is pleased that several cities across the country have become favorite tourist attractions. He praises all responsible agencies for conforming to the government’s policies to promote Thai tourism, a key component in the country’s economic revival”

Mr. Anucha added that “PM Prayut urges the Thais to impress tourists with their hospitality.”
