The Thai baht prices are the actual program fees. The US dollar amounts are estimates using roughly THB 34 to USD 1, so your final foreign-currency cost will depend on the exchange rate and bank charges on the payment date. The official program currently allocates 0 annual points to Bronze, 20 to Gold, 35 to Platinum, 55 to Diamond and 120 to Reserve. Current membership information is available from Thailand Privilege.
How much is a 5-year Thailand Elite Visa?
The direct answer is THB 650,000 for Bronze or THB 900,000 for Gold. Both provide five years of Thailand Privilege membership, but Gold includes 20 Privilege Points each year while Bronze has no annual points.
Bronze is a limited offering scheduled to close to new applications on 30 September 2026. Unless the program announces another extension, applicants who miss that deadline would need to consider Gold or a longer membership. The THB 250,000 difference between Bronze and Gold works out to THB 50,000 per year. Whether Gold is worth that difference depends on how often you will actually use its points and lifestyle benefits.
For a person mainly buying predictable long-term immigration status, Bronze is usually the more rational five-year choice. For someone who expects to redeem airport, wellness, travel and administrative services regularly, Gold may justify the higher price.
Which membership gives the best value per year?
Bronze has the lowest total price and the lowest annual cost. Platinum is the strongest longer-term value because its annualized cost is lower than Gold despite providing twice the membership duration.

This calculation does not mean you can pay monthly or annually. The membership fee is paid as a lump sum. The annual and monthly figures simply make the tiers easier to compare.
The numbers reveal something that is easy to miss. Platinum costs THB 600,000 more than Gold upfront, but it gives another five years and reduces the effective annual cost from THB 180,000 to THB 150,000.
Diamond also compares reasonably well on duration, although its THB 2.5 million upfront commitment is substantial. Reserve is not the value choice based on visa duration alone. It is an invitation-only tier intended for people who place considerable value on the highest service and points allocation.

What is included in the membership fee?
The membership fee includes Thailand Privilege membership, the associated long-term multiple-entry visa and the core services assigned to your tier. It is not simply a visa application charge.
The published membership fees are inclusive of Thai VAT. For an approved applicant, the Thailand Privilege visa can be placed in the passport after membership activation, subject to the applicable immigration process.
Core benefits generally include:
- A multiple-entry Privilege Entry Visa covering the membership period
- Repeated entry into Thailand without buying a re-entry permit for each trip
- Airport assistance and premium immigration lane access at participating airports
- Access to the Thailand Privilege Member Contact Center
- Assistance with certain immigration and government procedures
- Privilege Points on Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Reserve
- Partner discounts and redeemable lifestyle benefits
Airport and concierge benefits are subject to the rules of the membership tier, participating airports, reservations and service availability. A benefit described as part of the program should not automatically be understood as unlimited, available nationwide or available without advance booking.
The points also do not have a fixed cash value. Their usefulness depends on which services you redeem and whether those services suit your lifestyle. Bronze members receive the core visa-focused package but no annual Privilege Points. Compare the current packages here.
Are there hidden immigration costs?
There is no annual Thailand Privilege membership fee, but that does not mean every immigration-related expense for the next five to 20 years is prepaid.
If you leave and re-enter Thailand before your current permission to stay expires, you will normally receive a new stay permission under the Privilege Entry Visa. A member who remains continuously in Thailand may instead need an extension of stay.
Official Thailand Privilege guidance currently lists an immigration extension fee of THB 1,900. The member must attend the relevant immigration office for the photograph and fingerprint process.
Members staying in Thailand for more than 90 consecutive days must also comply with 90-day address reporting. Thailand Privilege can assist in designated service areas, but the obligation does not disappear merely because someone has purchased the membership.
Official service areas currently include Bangkok, Chonburi, Chiang Mai and Phuket, subject to the program’s procedures and schedules. Members living elsewhere may need to report directly or use the Immigration Bureau’s online system when eligible. A late 90-day report can result in a THB 2,000 fine. Review current procedures through the Thai Immigration Bureau.
Other possible out-of-pocket costs include:
- Bank transfer and foreign-exchange charges
- Passport replacement or membership card replacement costs
- Charges for missed or late-cancelled reserved services
- Transportation to an immigration office
- Services that require points or payment
- Professional advice outside the membership’s standard support
- Family membership fees
The mistake we see most often is assuming the membership price makes every Thailand-related administrative service free. It covers a defined membership and benefit package, not every future government, banking, legal or lifestyle expense.
Does the price include a spouse or children?
No. The advertised price is generally for one applicant. Family members do not automatically receive visas because the main applicant has purchased a membership.
Supplementary family membership may be available with Platinum, Diamond and Reserve, subject to the program rules and any current promotion. Family pricing has changed several times, so it should be confirmed in writing before the main applicant chooses a tier.
Do not select a THB 1.5 million or THB 2.5 million package based on an old family promotion found online. Ask for a current quotation showing the main applicant’s fee, each family member’s fee, the relationship documents required and the deadline for payment.
What is not included with the Thailand Elite Visa?
The membership provides long-term immigration status and services, but it is not permanent residence, citizenship, a work permit, health insurance or a tax exemption.
In particular, the standard Thailand Privilege membership does not by itself give the holder permission to work or study in Thailand. Someone planning to take employment, operate in a regulated role or study formally must confirm whether separate authorization is required.
It also does not include:
- Thai permanent residence
- Thai citizenship
- A work permit
- Guaranteed bank-account approval
- Private medical insurance
- Housing or accommodation
- School fees
- Tax advice or exemption from Thai tax
- Automatic visas for family members
- Guaranteed approval after payment of the application fee
Assistance with opening a bank account means assistance with the process. The bank still applies its own compliance and account-opening requirements.
Does buying the visa affect Thai tax?
The membership fee does not determine your Thai tax position. Tax residence is based on your circumstances, including the number of days you spend in Thailand and the nature and timing of your income.
Thailand’s Revenue Department generally treats a person who spends more than 180 days in Thailand during a calendar year as a Thai tax resident. Separate rules then determine whether Thai-source or foreign-source income is assessable and whether treaty relief or foreign tax credits apply.
A person planning to live in Thailand for most of the year should therefore review tax exposure separately. Paying THB 650,000 or THB 5 million for a membership does not purchase a personal income-tax exemption.

How long does approval take?
Allow about one to three months for approval, although straightforward applications frequently complete within four to eight weeks. Do not make non-refundable relocation plans around the fastest possible result.
Thailand Privilege’s published process states that approval may be issued within approximately two months. Once full payment is completed, membership activation is generally processed within about one week.
In our experience, the timeline depends heavily on nationality, immigration history and whether the application documents are complete and consistent. Background checks can take longer where additional government verification is required.
For Bronze, waiting until the final days before 30 September 2026 creates unnecessary risk. Applicants should submit well before the closing date and confirm which event must occur by the deadline, such as application submission, approval or payment.

Who should not pay for a Thailand Privilege membership?
It is not the right choice for everyone. It makes sense primarily when simplicity, predictable long-term stay and service are worth more to you than obtaining the cheapest possible visa.
You should compare other options first when:
- You qualify for another long-term visa at a much lower government fee
- You need unrestricted permission to work in Thailand
- You are unsure whether you will remain in Thailand for more than a year or two
- Paying the fee would significantly reduce your emergency savings
- You expect the membership to produce permanent residence or citizenship
- You will not use the airport, concierge or lifestyle benefits
- You are buying mainly because someone described it as an investment
The membership fee is a lifestyle and immigration expense. It is not a financial investment and does not produce a return, ownership interest or guaranteed resale value.
For many clients, Bronze or Platinum provides the clearest economic logic. Bronze keeps the initial commitment low. Platinum suits someone already confident that Thailand will remain a base for at least ten years.
Gold can still be suitable, but the buyer should have a real reason for paying THB 250,000 more than Bronze. Diamond and Reserve are usually chosen for duration, family planning, service level and points, not because they have the lowest annual cost.
