Holiday hotspots in Southern Thailand are attracting local and foreign tourists. According to the head of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)’s office for the islands, 2.3 million foreign and local tourists visited Koh Tao, Koh Pha Ngan, and Koh Samui from January to October 2022.

This number has produced THB40 billion Baht in tourism income. Islands off the coast of Surat Thani would expect a 60% increase in tourist arrivals.

According to Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park, Maya Bay, a famous natural attraction in Krabi, receives an average of 4,100 tourists every day.

Since the bay was closed for environmental rehabilitation from August to September, the park’s director deemed the figures to be a “good indicator.” The park enforces strict guidelines for tourists such as no swimming in the ocean and the use of reef-safe sunscreen requirement.

Officials and business operators in Thailand’s well-known holiday destinations see tourism comeback. From May 1 to November 27, Thai immigration recorded 934,164 tourist arrivals in Phuket.

In November, tourists from Russia had the largest foreign tourist population in Phuket. Around 55,097 Russians visited the island province.

Last month, 20,000 people visited Koh Larn island near Pattaya on a single weekend. The group of young and elderly tourists visited the island, flocking at Ta Waen Beach.

In addition to traditional Thai massage, the beach offers food and other amenities. Officials in Pattaya have also constructed a viewpoint over the beach for tourists to take photos.

On November 6, a lady from Slovakia was greeted with presents from tourism authorities as Phang Nga’s one-millionth international visitor to Phang Nga. Phang Nga has a goal to attract 10 million travelers in 2023.
