Maximum COVID-19 Control Zones Removed, Tourism Pilot Zones Increased

Starting December 16, all maximum COVID-19 control zones will be removed and the number of tourism pilot zones will increase.

Taweesilp Visanuyothin, the spokesperson for the CCSA said on Monday that all 23 provinces under red zones of maximum control would be lifted.

Provinces under control zones or orange zones will increase from 23 to 39.

The number of provinces under high surveillance zones or yellow zones will also increase from 24 to 30.

Blue-coded pilot zones will be increased from 7 to 8.  This includes Chon Buri district, Bangkok, Phuket, Nonthaburi, Phangnga, Kanchanaburi, Pathum Thani, and Krabi. 

Starting January 1, Bung Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Trat (Khlong Yai district), Sa Kaeo (Muang and Aranyaprathet districts), Mukdahan (Muang district), and Ubon Ratchathani (Muang and Sirindhorn districts) will be designated as tourism pilot zones.

The abolishment of red zones means relaxed restrictions on the number of participants in activities, sports, and venues.

The 39 provinces designated as orange (control) zones will include the following:

3. Chachoengsao
4. Chumphon
5. Chiang Mai
6. Chiang Rai
7. Trang
8. Trat
9. Tak
10. Nakhon Nayok
11. Nakhon Ratchasima
12. Nakhon Si Thammarat
13. Narathiwat
14. Prachuap Khiri Khan
15. Pattani
16. Prachin Buri
17. Ayutthaya
18. Phatthalung
19. Phitsanulok
20. Phetchaburi
21. Phetchabun
22. Mae Hong Son
23. Yala
24. Ranong
25. Rayong
26. Ratchaburi
27. Lop Buri
28. Lampang
29. Lamphun
30. Satun
31. Samut Prakan
32. Samut Sakhon
33. Songkhla
34. Sa Kaeo
35. Saraburi
36. Suphan Buri
37. Surat Thani
38. Udon Thani
39. Ubon Ratchathani

Alcohol use is still prohibited at establishments in orange zones. Water parks and amusement areas at malls will remain closed.

The 30 provinces designated as yellow zones (high surveillance) will include the following:
