Phangnga, Thailand

The reopening of Phangnga under the 7+7 plan is expected to attract 30,000 tourists and generate 2,500,000,000 baht in tourism revenue until December.

Following the opening of registration for COE on August 16, TAT reports that more than 700 room reservations for the months of August to September throughout 4 expanded regions.  This includes Phangnga

According to Phangnga Tourist Association president Chayabol Hirankanokkul, the province has received 5 to 6 reservations for August, but tour operators anticipate 5,000 tourists and generate 800,000,000 baht by September.

After spending  7 days in Phuket via Phuket Sandbox, tourists can explore other locations like the “Phangnga Prompt” Phangnga’s tourism reopening plan, which includes Khao Yao and Koh Lak.

75 hotels have been approved by the SHA Plus, with 25 percent of them opening their doors to visitors during the 1st phase of the program.

Mr. Chayabol added that if the pandemic situation and tourism improve, around 50 to 60 SHA Plus accredited hotels would reopen from October to December.

Tourists going to Phangnga under the 7+7 plan can visit Khao Lak and may remain inside the area of Takua Pa and Thai Muang.  Tourists are obliged to comply with daily hotel inspections, while authorities will inform tourists about available zones.

Tourists visiting Natai beach and Koh Yao must make use of SHA Plus services during their trips.

As for the COVID-19 protocols. If Phangnga has 90+ new cases each week or more than 80% of hospital beds are occupied by patients infected by COVID-19, Phangnga may restrict some tourism activities.

If the COVID-19 transmission becomes out of control, the program will have to be stopped.
