Quarantine Period For Unvaccinated Travelers Reduced

The mandatory quarantine period for unvaccinated travelers entering Thailand will be reduced to 5 days starting April 1. Travelers are also not required to do a pre-departure RT PCR Covid-19 test. The new guidelines are now awaiting publication in the Royal Gazette with the formal announcement will be at the end of the month.

Unvaccinated travelers are allowed to enter Thailand through the Alternative Quarantine program, which requires them to stay in an authorized hotel and be will be tested for Covid-19 before leaving the quarantine facility. Before, all unvaccinated travelers need to undergo a mandatory 10-day quarantine.

Those who have received a vaccination authorized by the government or World Health Organization at least 14 days before to travel may enter the country using the Test & Go or Sandbox program.

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration said last week that Thailand will shorten the quarantine period and eliminate the 72-hour pre-departure Covid-19 test requirement. The new rules are scheduled to take effect on April 1, but it needs to be published in the Royal Gazette.

Prior to going to Thailand, travelers must apply for a Thailand Pass QR code on the Department of Consular Affairs’ official website.
