Tourism Authority of Thailand Introduced Its First Sydney-Phuket Flights

The Tourism Authority of Thailand has introduced a series of special marketing initiatives to coincide with the launch of Thai Airways International’s (THAI) new 3x a week direct flights between Sydney and Phuket, with the commercial flight scheduled to arrive at Phuket International Airport on December 8, 2021.

Tourism Authority of Thailand Deputy Governor for International Marketing, Asia and the South Pacific, Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, stated that the first direct Sydney-Phuket-Sydney route and it symbolizes an excellent opportunity to increase the Australian market not only to Phuket but also to other tourist destinations in Southern Thailand.

Thai Airways International’s new Sydney-Phuket route is scheduled to leave from Sydney every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday between December 2021 and January 2022. Estimated passengers would be around 90 to 140 people per flight.

TAT is promoting Thai Airways International’s new Sydney-Phuket service with a series of unique marketing campaigns.  Between the commercial flight’s passengers is a blogger specializing in adventure travel and responsible tourism from the Nomadasaurus channel, which has over 429,000 followers. The blogger is in Thailand from December 8-22 to create travel content about Phuket, Samui, Bangkok, Surat Thani, and Chiang Mai.

Tourism Authority of Thailand has initiated a series of marketing campaigns in Australia in collaboration with Thai Airways International and local tour operators to increase travel to Thailand among a variety of target categories, including golfers, wedding and honeymoon couples. These have included the ‘Fly Safe to Thailand’ promotion, including $50,000USD in travel insurance and other advertisements such as 10-day sales, Valentine’s Specials, and more enticing campaigns.

THAI is increasing the number of seats available on its Sydney-Bangkok direct flights from 3 to 4 each week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Additionally, the airline wants to expand its flight connections with Australia, an important market for tourist arrivals to Thailand, by launching Melbourne-Bangkok direct flights in January 2022.

Thailand is now accepting fully vaccinated travelers from 63 countries under the TEST & GO program. Arrivals who are not citizens or residents of 63 designated countries/territories may visit Thailand under the Living in the “Blue Zone” Sandbox program, which presently covers 26 locations around the country.  Tourists from Australia who are partly or unvaccinated are warmly welcomed under the Happy Quarantine program.
