Health officials allowed the reopening of schools, massage parlors, and museums in Bangkok as well as other provinces. However, bars and nightclubs were not included.

This afternoon, the COVID-19 task group discussed the reopening of 10 kinds of businesses in Bangkok and 28 provinces that are marked dark red regions that were previously closed to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus.

Businesses that will reopen are the following:

Historical Sites
Museums
Learning and cultural centers
Indoor fitness and sports centers
Salons
Tattoo parlors
Spas and massage establishments
Theatres
Restaurants with live indoor music

Bars and nightclubs were among the first businesses to close and were expected to remain closed for the near future. Without government assistance, several bars and other establishments have been permanently closed.

Since the 2nd week of August, the daily case count has been declining, and Bangkok seems to be turning the page once again, with huge crowds congregating at bars where the sale of alcohol is hidden.

Despite the vaccination program being slow and riddled with difficulties, Thailand has vaccinated about 24% of the population. That figure is 46.9 % in Bangkok.

Today, health authorities verified the presence of an additional 10,288 new COVID-19 cases and 101 fatalities.

The COVID-19 task group will consider moving the curfew start time to 10 p.m.
