Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha

Taweesilp Visanuyothin, the spokesperson for the CCSA which is present at the meeting told reports that they allow drinking of alcoholic beverages in restaurants in the country on New Year’s Eve until 1 am on January 1 subject to tight disease control measures mandated by the Public Health Ministry.

According to the resolution, restaurants in 77 provinces, regardless of what control zones they belong to, will be permitted to serve alcoholic beverages to customers during the New Year countdown celebration until 1 am on January 1 provided they are open-air (al fresco) restaurants or restaurants with adequate ventilation.

The event will be attended by at least 1,000 individuals. Organizers, employees, singers, and musicians must all be completely vaccinated and submit to the COVID-19 antigen test 72 hours before a New Year’s countdown celebration.

Patrons must register and purchase tickets in advance.  Another requirement is they must be inoculated and provide a negative COVID-19 antigen test result 72 hours before the event, Dr. Taweesilp said.

Additionally, the CCSA agreed on Monday to lift all maximum control red zones in 23 provinces starting December 16, 2021. From 23, there are now 39 provinces designated as control zones (orange zones). The number of provinces with high monitoring zones (yellow zones) will increase from 24 to 30.
