Mu Koh Ang Thong National Marine Park in Surat Thani has opened its doors to fully vaccinated foreign visitors. It seeks to bolster the Samui Plus tourist initiative.

There are 42 islands in the park. Its headquarters are situated on Koh Wua Ta Lap, where there are lodging and restaurants. Additionally, the island includes tourist attractions such as a viewpoint atop a hill from where tourists may enjoy the bird’s-eye view of the islands, Bua Bok Cave, and Hat Tham Rang.

Tourists may take a day excursion to the island and enjoy activities such as snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, and sunbathing. Travelers from Koh Samui may access Mu Koh Ang Thong National Marine Park via tourist boat. A one-way journey takes 90 minutes.

On July 15, the government introduced the Samui Plus program. The reopening followed the implementation of the Phuket Sandbox model that was launched last July 1, which allows fully vaccinated international tourists to visit the island without being quarantined.

Tourists visiting Koh Samui must possess a Certificate of Entry or COE which can be attained by registering to their website coethailand.mfa.go.th and a medical certificate showing a real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) negative result within 72 hours before their trip. Additionally, they must have proof of immunization and medical insurance that covers Covid-19 medication at least 100,000 USD or 3.3 million baht.

Upon arrival, visitors will have their first Covid-test. They must stay at one of Samui’s Extra Plus hotels for the first 7 nights. They can find and book ASQ Hotels at asq.locanation.com. They must pass the 2nd Covid-19 test if their stay is extended. Once the result is negative, they may transfer to any Safety and Health Administration, or SHA+ approved hotel at thailandsha.com. It is issued by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) with the assistance of the Ministry of Public Health and Ministry of Tourism and Sports to inform the public about safety and sanitary protocols.

They may also spend an additional 7 days visiting SHA+ certified areas on Koh Samui, such as tourist destinations and restaurants, or staying at SHA+ hotels on neighboring islands like Koh Tao and Koh Phangan. They may travel to other parts of Thailand after completing 14 nights and passing the 3rd Covid-19 test.
